This position can be filled as either an Actuarial Analyst II or an Actuarial Analyst III depending on experience and this is at the managers discretion.
Actuarial Analyst II
Completes projects and performs complex actuarial studies.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Performs key actuarial functions including supporting new product pricing, evaluation of the impact of new legislation, and flexible benefit consulting.
Supports special projects such as developing and maintaining experience-rating formulae and creating and/or reviewing alternative settlement formulate and risk sharing models.
Obtain and verify data used for monthly analysis.
Prepare high dollar claim reserve reports.
Support the month-end close process and ensure the accuracy of booked IBNR.
Assist with preparation of month-end financial reporting.
Support seasonality review for forecasts.
Provide support for internal, external, and tax-related audit requests.
Assist with quarterly reporting, including statutory and GAAP information.Additional responsibilities include enterprise-based projects such has peer reviews, actuarial opinion work, and process improvement projects.
Actuarial Analyst III
Completes very diverse and complicated projects and performs very complex actuarial studies.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Support the month-end close process and ensure the accuracy of booked IBNR reserves.
Analyze drivers of changes in reserves and incurred claim levels to support business unit.
Prepare and coordinate month-end financial reporting.
Produce seasonality statistics for the block to be used in the quarterly forecast.
Provide support and analysis for internal, external, and tax-related audit requests.
Produce quarterly reporting, including statutory and GAAP information.
Assists in training of actuarial trainees, analysts and specialists.
Responsible for working with Data Science to build out machine learning algorithms to support Anthem underwriting processes, as well as integrating the output into current business practices.
Responsible for research and development of advanced analytics and reporting for Underwriting.
Qualifications
Actuarial Analyst II
BS/BA degree
Required to have passed at least three Society of Actuaries (SOA) or Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) actuarial exams
1 year related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background..
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Actuarial Analyst III
BS/BA degree;
Required to have passed at least four Society of Actuaries (SOA) actuarial exams.
3 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Long Term Care reserving experience is preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office
