Description

The Medical Coding Coordinator 2 extracts clinical information from a variety of medical records and assigns appropriate procedural terminology and medical codes (e.g., ICD-10-CM, CPT) to patient records. The Medical Coding Coordinator 2 performs varied activities and moderately complex administrative/operational/customer support assignments.

Responsibilities

The Medical Coding Coordinator 2 determines whether to reject or pay claims following coding guidelines and organizational policies and procedures.


Responds to or clarifies internal requests for medical information.
Review Medical records
Decisions are typically focus on interpretation of area/department policy and methods for completing assignments.
Works within defined parameters to identify work expectations and quality standards, but has some latitude over prioritization/timing, and works under minimal direction.
Follows standard policies/practices that allow for some opportunity for interpretation/deviation and/or independent discretion.


Required Qualifications


Certified Professional Coder certification (CPC).
1 or more years of experience coding and reviewing medical records.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel and Word.
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.
Must have a separate room with a locked door that can be used as a home office, to ensure you have absolute and continuous privacy while you work.
Must have the ability to provide a high-speed DSL or cable modem for a home office (Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role). A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mbs download x 10mbs upload) is required.


Preferred Qualifications


Associate's or Bachelor's Degree.
2 or more years of experience as a certified medical coder.
2or more years of claims processing experience.
Experience working remotely and attending/participating in virtual work trainings.
Medicare guidelines experience.
Experience in a production driven environment.


Additional Information


Work Days/Hours: Monday - Friday; 8 hour shift - 7:30am - 4:00pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) with some flexibility with work hours upon completion of training.
Training: Approximately 4 or more weeks.


Work-At-Home Requirements


WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.
A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.
Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

If participating in a pre-recorded interview, you will respond to a set of interview questions via your phone. You should anticipate this interview to take approximately 10-15 minutes.

If participating in a SMS Text interview, you will be asked a series of questions to which you will be using your cell phone or computer to answer the questions provided. Expect this type of interview to last anywhere from 5-10 minutes. Your recorded interview(s) via text and/or pre-recorded voice will be reviewed and you will subsequently be informed if you will be moving forward to next round of interviews.
