As the global outbreak of COVID-19 continues to unfold, Latham has taken precautions to help protect our people, clients, and the communities where we live and work. This includes a shift to virtual work for the majority of our lawyers and staff. This role will likely start virtually while the firm continues to evaluate the situation.
The Global Attorney Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance. As a Global Attorney Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator at Latham, you will work with the Manager of Global Attorney Diversity & Inclusion, the Director of Global Attorney Diversity & Inclusion, and the Diversity Leadership Committee (the “DLC”) to support all projects related to the firm’s internal diversity, equity and inclusion (“DEI”) efforts, while accomplishing these and other critical functions:
Supporting all DLC subcommittees, including scheduling calls throughout the year and assisting with follow up items
Assisting with logistics for all DLC-led training programs, including identification and outreach to potential guest speakers, drafting invites and announcements, coordinating with any external vendors, tracking attendance, and collecting feedback from participants
Serving as a key member of the planning teams for our annual Diversity Leadership Academies (for law students and mid-level associates) and Women’s Leadership Academies (for partners and senior associates)
Drafting internal and external communications for DLC initiatives, including our Allies@Latham newsletters
Assisting in the preparation of industry DEI surveys and award submissions (e.g., Working Mother survey, Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index); obtaining approvals from key internal stakeholders and attorney consents for the disclosure of demographic information
Assisting with various aspects of support for our firmwide affinity groups, Multicultural Promotion & Attainment Coalitions (MPACs), and attorney & staff diversity networks; maintaining leadership rosters, updating and circulating orientation materials for new leaders, tracking memberships (e.g., updating rosters and email distribution lists), updating intranet sites, coordinating videoconferences and conference calls, and assisting with “attorney spotlight” emails
Coordinating logistics for global affinity group events, including firmwide videoconferences, guest speaker presentations, sessions at firm academies, and presentations to law students
Managing sponsorships of outside DEI organizations, including tracking sponsorship history, preparing summaries of sponsorship requests, collecting feedback from lawyers on sponsored events, preparing ads, and processing invoices
Assisting with the logistics and preparation of materials for DLC presentations
Helping coordinate the logistics for the annual DLC meeting, including assisting with travel, conference services, and technology details
Assisting with the maintenance and continued enhancement of the DLC’s intranet site, including liaising with the Technology Department
Working with the Technology and Brand & Communications Departments to update DEI content on ****Assisting with the annual Diversity Champions recognition, including tracking nominations and preparing communications
Processing all invoices for DLC and global affinity group events
Conducting industry research, including attending webinars and meetings, as needed
Monitoring the latest DEI news and helping the global DLC team stay abreast of the latest best practices in the DEI space
Working with various firm departments and committees to implement DLC initiatives, including Brand & Communications, Business Development, Global Business Operations, Human Resources, the Recruiting Committee, and Technology
Traveling to support DLC meetings and programs, as needed
Assisting with special projects, including for the Women Enriching Business (WEB) Committee, as needed
Promoting inclusion, allyship, and belonging in the workplace; utilizing effective work practices, working as a team member, and showing respect for co-workers
As a Global Attorney Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Coordinator must have well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the Firm, and the ability to work in a team environment with a customer service focus. The ideal Coordinator should possess strong attention to detail and quality assurance processes.
A Bachelor’s Degree is required. A minimum of one (1) year to three (3) years of related administration experience is desired.
