Job Overview:
A New Orleans-based law firm is actively seeking a mid-level associate to support its expanding litigation team focused on complex insurance and reinsurance disputes. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced litigator who thrives in fast-paced legal environments and brings in-depth knowledge of coverage issues tied to professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance policies. The role involves hands-on litigation work and offers the chance to engage with sophisticated matters and high-profile clients in the insurance sector.

Duties:

• Manage a broad range of litigation responsibilities, including:

  • Drafting pleadings, dispositive motions, and legal memoranda

  • Conducting written and oral discovery, including motion practice

  • Taking and defending depositions

  • Handling court appearances appropriate to the experience level

• Analyze and advise on complex insurance coverage issues across various policy types

• Oversee case strategy and development independently and collaboratively

• Participate in client communications and strategy meetings

• Contribute to business development and practice growth initiatives

Requirements:

• 4 to 7 years of litigation experience, with a strong focus on insurance coverage and related commercial disputes

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines under pressure

• Strong legal writing and research capabilities

• Prior experience with client interaction and case management is preferred

• Ability to work autonomously as well as within a collaborative legal team

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the Louisiana Bar (or eligibility to waive in)

Skills:

• Deep understanding of professional liability, D&O, and general liability insurance frameworks

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

• Excellent oral advocacy and written communication abilities

• Adaptability in handling both routine matters and complex, high-stakes litigation

• Comfortable with modern legal technology tools and research databases
